Oaten Architects Ltd is an architectural practice based in Hastings, East Sussex but operating throughout London and the South East

Founded by Richard Oaten RIBA in 2015, we are now working on a wide range of projects from large-scale residential conversions throughout the south-east to new-build larger residential and mixed-use schemes in London.

We are also happy to be working on several smaller local projects and are keen to retain a connection to our home town, especially on the Conservation side.

We pride ourselves on being a highly approachable, practical, innovative and friendly practice focused on the Client’s needs.  We have considerable experience in both large-scale commercial developments and smaller residential schemes and will always seek to add value to all our projects.

We can also draw on interior design, landscaping and Health + Safety CDM aspects as required through a network of people we work with both locally and in London.

Richard Oaten has been a qualified architect for over 20 years and has lived and worked in London before settling with his young family in Hastings.  Before setting up his own practice he worked in Hong Kong and then London for many years, working on many prestigious office and educational schemes before working for a locally based practice in Hastings more focused on residential projects.

He is supported by Mihai Man an experienced designer looking after the new-build projects in London, Michelle Mujakachi a newly qualified Part 2 architect focusing on the residential conversions and Georgi Manchev, a Part 1 assistant rapidly learning the ropes!

The office has considerable back-up help should it be needed and we are always on the look-out for excellent locally-based staff.
